Abdi Somo

CEO/FOUNDER

The CEO/FOUNDER of INTER Africa Asal Ecosystem Ltd, schooled at Kilimani primary school in Isiolo upto class 6 level and finished at St. Paul Primary School in Maralal (Class 7) CPE (Certificate of Primary Education) in Samburu County(formaly Samburu District). He joined a National School Garba Tulla High School in Isiolo and then Shimoletewa High School in Mombasa for 5th and 6th form. He joined an NGO (SALTLICK) Semi –Arid Lands Training and Livestock Improvement Centers of Kenya based at Isiolo. Through the NGO he did his Range Management Certificate course at the Maasai Rural Training Center in Kajiado County and Diploma in (Management) at the Corat Africa - Inades Formation Kenya at Karen. He pursued his BSC Range management at Egerton University at Njoro – Nakuru county and a Degree in Forestry at Khordofan University in Sudan Khartoum and (specialized in gum arabic value chain). INTERNATIONALLY, He was among the consultant, through (FNC) Forest National Corporation (Sudan Khartoum) on Gum Arabic World Demand Structure/Market opportunity) - Revitalization on gum arabic production and marketing supply project in 2012) World Bank. He is a member of Glyn University (Philip hydrocolloids research center) in UK. He is also a member of international gum Arabic forum (Sudan khartoum) and a member The association of gum Arabic aid (France) REGIONALLY - He was formerly a member of NGARA (Network for Natural Gums and Resins in Africa) – 16 producing countries and a partnership member of South Sudan gum Arabic association (Juba) and in Greater Kapoeta. He has a relation with focal points with Eritrea/Ethiopia/Somalia and across the borders in Tanzania (Shinyanga), Northern Uganda, South Sudan (Greater Kapoeta), Southern Ethiopia, Djibouti and Somalia. NATIONALLY in Kenya he was formerly a national treasurer GARA – Gums and Resins Association of Kenya. He is currently worked with KEFRI – Kenya Forest Research Institute as a Centre Research Advisory Committee (CRAC) in Nairobi (Karura), Kitui, Baringo and Lodwar and a member (KFS) Kenya Forest Service as FCC - Forest Conservation Comittee, Ewaso Nyiro North Forest Conservation Committee representing Timber industry (Isiolo, Samburu, Marsabit Counties. He is a member of Kenya Aloe Working Group (KAWG) and also a member of Laikipia Wild life Forum both in Laikipia County since 2016. He is also a member of NACOFA – National Community Forest Association.

He is a member and friends of Lake Turkana and Sibiloi national park. The CEO is also a Director (KNCCI) Kenya National Chamber of Commerce and Industry – Isiolo chapter and the shareholder of Kenya Asal Resources Agency Ltd, INTER-Africa Investments Group Holdings Ltd and the sole shareholder of INTER Africa Asal Ecosystem ltd, anticipating investors for partnership regionally, nationally and Internationally. He is a member of Isiolo Holding Ground Users Association formerly (LMD) Livestock Marketing Division a National government owned disease free zone under state department for livestock production. He is a member - Isiolo County trade sector working group and a member - steering committee of Isiolo County Climate Change and adaptation. He is also a Chairman of Kilimani Game Galana Agriculture and Water Users Association within Isiolo municipality with 461 farming households funded by African Development Bank and constructed Kilimani dam and irrigation system worthy Ksh 400 Million at Burat ward.
